Michigan Lavender Festival While this fragrant purple flower is not native to Michigan, the state is becoming increasingly known for its lavender farms — and the Michigan Lavender Festival is a great way to learn more about them. Billed as the largest and oldest lavender festival on the East Coast, now in its 23rd year, the event features vendors, artisan workshops, and food trucks … not to mention ice-cold Lavender Lemonade. From noon-6 p.m. on Friday, June 6 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8 at Eastern Michigan State Fairgrounds; 195 Midway St., Imlay City; themichiganlavenderfestival.com. Tickets are $10; children 12 and under get in free.

Through a partnership between Come Play Detroit and Downtown Detroit Partnership, Beacon Park is offering pickleball on two courts that are well-lit for after-dark play.
